The Kardashian-Jenner matriarch spoke out on the rumors for the first time on Saturday.
Kylie Jenner dominated social media on Friday, Sept. 22 when various outlets reported the 20-year-old was expecting her first child with boyfriend Travis Scott. Kylie, the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, has yet to confirm, but matriarch Kris Jenner commented on the rumors for the first time on Saturday. While attending Milan Fashion Week in support of daughter Kendall Jenner, who was walking in the shows, Kris reportedly told The Hollywood Reporter the news came as surprise to her.
"It wouldn't be the family if something didn't happen every single day," she said, choosing neither to confirm nor deny.
Kris, who was attending the Bottega Veneta show at the time, also opened up about the rumors to The Cut:
"[Kylie's] not confirmed anything," she said. "I think it's kind of wild that everyone is just assuming that that's just happening."
This statement, of course, has echoes of denial without outright claiming the rumors are false. This is far from the first time pregnancy rumors have haunted Kylie, but according to some sources, the makeup guru and Scott have confirmed to friends that this is real.
It's possible Kris' noncommittal response was crafted carefully to ensure Kylie is able to make the official announcement herself, on her own terms.
On Friday, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star shared pointed fan art to Instagram, some fans assuming it was her way of telling the world she was expecting a baby girl:
TMZ first broke the news, while People ultimately confirmed the pregnancy was an "unexpected but completely amazing turn of events that she could not be more excited or thrilled about." Kylie, 20, and Scott, 25, have been together since April.
